Weekend-er

I just got back home from a conference at Capitol Hill Baptist Church where I applied to do an internship in the fall or possibly the spring. It was a great conference on how to cultivate and maintain a healthy church for God's glory. The conference is put on by Nine Marks ministry and is called a "Weekender."

Being there gave me more of a love and appreciation for my home church. I know you guys were all committed to churches at school, but I was just wondering how things are going now that some of us are home and some are newly married. Have you guys found new churches or gone back to old ones? Are you enjoying church or is it a struggle? I hope you are able to find good churches to be fed and in which to minister the Gospel.

On Zechariah, I'm sorry I haven't posted anything yet. I will try to do that in the next day or two. I start work training on Thursday night and find out a few other big important things this week. If you want to know about it, give me a call ;-)

And, Colby, if you read this, I hope you are doing well in preparation for the wedding and marriage (as our dear friend Jared reminds us).

Speaking of conferences, I was at one with Emily several weeks ago at her church in West Chester. Paul David Tripp was the speaker: yes, the real one with the ostentatious mustache (if you haven't seen it, google his picture). He spoke on how the body of Christ must work together so that we all change into the image of Christ. He spoke of "uncomfortable grace", God's grace which gives us trials so that we do not stay the same.

As for Josh's post, I have enjoyed my hiatus here in Carlisle, attending Grace Baptist Church, which is a Reformed Baptist Church of larger size. The preaching is excellent, the laymen doctrinally astute. This quarter I have attended a SS called "Apologetics". Though not like a Shu class, it was good. Once a month, the pastor opens up a 45 minute question and answer session for question about the last month's messages. He, a Scottish amil, enjoys the challenge of this questions.

I have gotten to know some people, but I have struggled to find people my age to relate to. Also, since I knew I was only here for five months, I was hesitant to pursue relationships with others.

Emily and I are praying about finding a church when we move to TEDS. This is an important decision we need to make, and I hope that it will be one we can make soon after we get there. Pray for us!
