Preaching

Brothers,
This Sunday July 20th, I will have the opportunity to preach at a small church plant. I would like to ask for your prayers in preparation for the sermon, delievery, and that I would be open to the Lord's teaching. I am excited about this sermon because it is my first opportunity to preach without basing any portion of the message on any message that I have done in a Preaching class. My passage is 1 Cor. 7:17-24.

As a second note I am still planning on being off-campus this year at BBC. I think I have found a roommate or two, but now we need to find an apartment. I will be trying to get specific details in the next few weeks.(I hope)

Timeo! Great to hear from you! I'm very excited for your preaching opportunity. Preach the Word, brother - we have nothing to add to it and we dare not leave out a word of it. Please give us your thoughts on the text. What's impresses you about it, what will your main point(s) be? I also hope your last semesters go well. Enjoy them, even though they're annoying in some ways, you'll miss them when you're gone.

Tim, it's great that you have the oppurtunity to preach the Word of God. I pray that your preachng will impart grace unto those who hear.

I do concur with Josh's advice concerning your remaining time there. Enjoy them and enjoy your classes. You got orals out of the way. Also, you should take a Shu class, you'll be better for it.

On a side note, Heather and Luke have an extra bedroom in their apartment. I'll ask them if you can move in there. Gross.

How did your sermon go? Maybe you can give us insight into your sermon prep and how God used it in your life.

The sermon went well. In the first 6 minutes I said um... over 20x but after that I relaxed and everything went actually better than I expected. It was a bit different than most churches that I have been too because there was about 9 members. The one man in the church said that it was very convicting realizing that God has called him to certain health conditions. We are all called to different places and circumstances. Even if we are in the different circumstances we are called to be obedient to God and praise Him.

Thanks for the offer to sleep at your sisters and brother in laws but i am thinking that they would prefer to be able to enjoy one anothers company for the first few months. Thanks though.
