Just wanted to give you guys an update on my life. I'm at Capitol Hill Baptist Church, happily serving as an intern. Today was our first day and it was great. The leaders are wonderful, the congregation is mature, the fellow interns are humble and serious. I wish you all could be here with me doing this internship. You would all love it immensely. And married guys can do it! I would seriously encourage any of you to consider doing this. Especially you, Jared, because you aren't starting seminary or moving to Mexico any time soon. There's that for what it's worth. If you want, make a visit for a weekend and you guys can see what you think.
ANYWAY! I would love to hear what's going on in your lives. I realize a lot of things are going for a few of you. I love and miss you guys.

I guess there is no hope for me because I am enrolled in Seminary halfway across the country. :) Emily and I are struggling to find a church. We have visited six and are praying and wondering what to do. One out of six seems promising. It is a small Southern Baptist Church with the feel of a church plant. We could go there, but we would have to overlook some differences. This Sunday we are thinking about driving to a church plant almost an hour away. We want to get involved with a church, and many of the churches around here are chock full of students. We are ready to see God work, although He has been working all along.
My job is going well when I get work. Monday and Tuesday my boss has nothing for me to do, which is a real struggle for me. I want to work and have the time for it. I do not want to hope in my job.
In my free time I am tackling Hebrew. I am translating Judges (I got almost the first two chapters read and translated). I am hitting vocab hard. I need to memorize the first 650 cards in that delightful vocab set by Pratico. I want to pass my Hebrew placement test August 22 so I do not have to take Hebrew I and II again!
I am grateful for the blog, facebook, and cell phones, because they connect me to the friends I do have. Em and I haven't made many friends. Hopefully that will come with a good church. I also extend the invitation to visit. We have an excellent air mattress and great cooking. You can also experience the worst driving in American here in Chicago, if you thought PA drivers were bad.
I intend to take you up on that invite if I am ever in that part of the country. I do hope, and will pray for you and Emily to find a good Gospel preaching church. You know well that the local church is an integral part of the Christian life and you will find more than friends there.
Glad you are tackling the Hebrew. Glad you are not hoping in your job, but I am glad you have one. Be of good spirits my friend. I miss your smiling face, bouncy self and... well... other things as well...
That's great to hear Josh! I am of course envious of you! Things in the mattress industry are well. Janelle and I and rejoicing in and enjoying the blessings of friends and a good church that God has bestowed on us.
I really miss you guys and pray for you daily, please continue to update me on your requests and I will try to call you both in a day or two.
